About the project

Groote Schuur Hospital is one of South Africa’s busiest trauma centres. With one of the highest trauma burdens in the world, seconds can mean the difference between life and death. Rapid access to advanced diagnostics and surgery is essential to saving lives and preventing life-altering complications.

We are expanding trauma services with the opening of a new Emergency Centre in early 2026, followed by a dedicated trauma radiology suite. To bring these facilities to life, we urgently need R20 million to equip them with state-of-the-art imaging, surgical, and life-support equipment. These upgrades will enable faster interventions, better recovery outcomes, and a stronger, more resilient public healthcare system.
